Once a upon a time - weight loss

Weighed myself last night and I didn't put on any weight. I thought I would put on some weight as I'm not going to the gym this week, as I'm not feeling 100%.

I'm not eating as much and that's probably the reason for maintaining the weight.

I'm picking up alittle and hope to be back on track by the end of the week or early next week. It will be interesting to see what happens with the weight this week with no exercise.

I'm missing the gym, never thought I'd say that, but it's true. The back is holding up and hopefully it will stay that way.

I am close to going under the 70kg mark and hope that will be soon. Will keep you posted.

These, as the other full length aprons are fully lined. I like color and contrast, which I hope you will enjoy.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

OK, Things have come to a stand still. Not feeling well this week so exercise has gone out the door. But I have not lost my direction and I'm still continuing the journey.

The best thing about this journey is I'm not letting anything stand in my way. Yes, this is a set back, but the gym is still there and I will continue the gym work when I get better. The goal at this stage is to get well quickly and then I'm back at the gym.

I hope I don't go to backwards in the weight department. We will see how the week turns out. Will keep you posted.

Vegie patch

The rains have been coming and the vegetable patch is really coming along. I've made our first picking of redishes. You can not beat picking vegies straight from the garden, washing the vegies and putting them onto the table in a salad.

These pictures are of our radishes. They're crisp and fresh with alittle bit of a bite to them. They grow so well and with very little effort. I'm not a green thumb but these do grow well and quickly.

The color is so bright and fresh. Great in salads. I hope you like the photos.

Thank You to all

This is just a heart felt thank you to all who have visited my blog. I hope you enjoy the different parts of my life and it has made some connection with you. Thank You and I will post soon.

Mash Potato with a twist

Do you ever have mash potatoes left over and don't know what to do with them. I have this all the time as I struggle to make the right amount for a meal. It's either to much or not enough.

However, with mash potatoes you can roll them into a ball, batter them in plain flour , egg with water or milk to make an egg wash( salt the egg for taste) and roll in bread crumbs. Fry in oil and you have a great side meal with steak, chicken whatever other dishes you like. You can add alittle piece of cheese in the middle for extra taste.

Love these, however not to many for the weight loss challenge. I am getting better at making better, food choices but I'm human and slip from time to time. I hope you enjoy the photo.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

Just back from another workout and what a workout. My x-trainer ( I'm soon to give them names), has been pushed to 15 minutes. Now don't laugth. This is quite an achievement, since 4 months ago, I could bearly walk. This piece of equipment is becoming my favourite, but I am still doing the others, like bike and treadmill.

Today was the first time it felt like I could push myself alittle. The back held up, but is alittle sore as we speech (blog). I'm including weights and the rowing machine on a more regular basis now.

I'm hoping to crack the 70kg weight by next week. Wish me luck, I might need it.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

The last few days have been difficult with Functions to attend and food galore to eat. I resigned to the fact that the weight will go back on, and Oh well, what could I do.

The functions were great and lots of fun and I could feel the weight slowly coming back on. It was Christmas and heck the food was really nice.

I did, however do one good thing and that was going to the gym. I knew the food would get me but I tried to counter act the eating with sessions in the gym. I still can't do hours in the gym and I'm only able to do about 30 minutes.

Today I thought I would weigh myself. As I stood on the scales the little voice was saying "Bad idea, you won't be happy, it's gone all pear shape." As I stood on the scales I was to afraid to look down. Slowly I opened one eye then the other. To my surpise I hadn't gain any weight. Now, I know, I haven't lost any but I haven't gain any either.

The gym work must have helped to burn the extra calaries. Now the good news is there isn't any other functions for a while and as long as I get back on track quickly hopefully I can start losing the weight again.

So things are looking on the up and up. I'm still wanting to crack the 70kg mark and hope to do that next week. That's my goal and I'll see how I go.

To other people trying to lose weight, I wish you all the best, and lets continue this journey.P.S. the vegie patch is coming along and I'll be posting photos soon.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

Well. The challenges are coming in thick and fast. Social events everywhere. I may have started this challenge at the wrong time of the year. But I'm up for it (lol). I'll see how well I will do. I do have a few ideas and I'll see how I go.

Some words of encouragement would be helpful at this stage. I'm planning to put a picutre of the old me on the fridge. At this point I'm using all the ideas I have.

I let you know how the challenge works out. Here's hopeing, fingers crossed.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

The weight loss challenge is continuing and surprisingly the interest is still there. The gym work is coming along and today I started on small weights for my arms.

Repetitions of 10 seems to be enough for me and works with 10 minutes on the treadmill, 10 on the bike and 10 minutes on the X - trainer. I do enjoy the X -trainer. It seems to be the best one on my back and as I'm working my arms as well as my legs it burns alot more calaries. However, the knees feel it a bit.

The rower machine has been another new piece of equipment that I have started on. I enjoy this as well and I'm surprised I enjoy the gym as much as I do. Being close to home has been a bonus and my sessions only last about 40 minutes. So it doesn't take to much time out of my day.

I am feeling better and I have moved two notches on my belt on my jeans. However.

A few social events are coming up and it will be interesting to see how I juggle functions and food and if I can still keep to my goals and not take to many steps backwards.

I'm looking alittle more trim and fabulous (lol) and I'm now getting into some of my other clothes. I'll weigh my self soon and let you know how I'm going there. But I am now wondering whether I need to weigh myself at all as I'm starting to feel better. I'm sure the curiosity will get to me and I will have to soon.

Love to hear your comments and any suggestions that have worked for you with weight loss. Will keep you posted.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

The little voices have started to talk to me. "I'll go to the gym at 11.00am, or maybe 1.00 or 3.00just before I start dinner. So I didn't go yesterday. But in one way it was probably a good thing. The back was playing up alittle and a day without the exercise has helped it recover.

Because I didn't go yesterday, I was more determined to go today and sure enough this morning I did my morning school run and off I then went to the gym. The back was better with the exercise and I was able to do alittle bit more.

I have lost alittle more weight and my goal is to get to 69kgs. I just need to brake that 70kg number.

My choices are better and I have cut my portions. Last night we had Pan fried pork chops, crumbed zucchini and steamed vegies. I use a smaller plate which helps with the portions.

I'm not doing the crash diet as I want to learn abit more about how to control the amount, so still eat great meals but perhaps in small amounts. I would like still to enjoy food but get a better balance between food and exercise.

I will keep you posted on my journey.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

Another day, another gym session. I'm only able to do 10 minutes on three different things but just that has made the weight go down. Now, it's not falling off me but as long as I don't put any weight on, I'm heading in the right direction.

Now this isn't about looking trim and fabulous by Christmas but heck, if I am trim and fabulous by then, that's a bonus. I weigh myself most days and that just gives me motivation to keep going, or a reality check if the scales go up.

I now tend to think about what I can do everyday that could help me. But don't think it's all rosey and peachy. I have my bad moments, but I then think about how I could do better at lunch or dinner.

I am already thinking how I could have a healthier meal at lunch and have thought about a salad sandwich as the scales have been in my favour.

I do enjoy the structure of the gym, and I'll be honest, I didn't think I would. I think it's just a constructive and measured way to put in place activities to lose some of the weight. It's not the be all or end all of weight loss, eating habits are just as important with me.

I will keep you posted on how easy or difficult this whole progess has been. Stay tuned.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

Just back from the gym. That sounds so good. Excercises are coming along but the back is limiting the time and repetitions of them. It is alittle frustrating as my mind could do more and at a faster rate but my body is sore and stiff. I need to continue to reach my ultimate goals.

The gym is becoming less weird and out of place for me and I'm getting use to the routine. Hopefully the back will hold up. Weight wise I seem lighter in the reflection of the T.V. screens on top of the equipment (lol). That seems to be my mirror at the moment as I've gone to the gym everyday. I have lost alittle more weight but nothing to scream and yell about. High fives, not at this point.

Food front, well, I could do better there but I am very concious of the food and do skip dessert from time to time. That's got to be a good thing, for now. I also found I don't snack as much and I only think thats because of my mind set. I hope so.

Off back, to the aprons, will list them soon.

New aprons on the way

Exciting NEWS!!! New material has just come in and there are some new aprons on the way. I'm in the process of making them and hope you will enjoy the colors and contrasts. I'll list them soon.

Favourite aprons from my etsy shop

Hi everyone, just posting some of my favourite aprons I love that I have made. I hope you like them too.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

I have just come back from the gym. Awkward, uncomfortable, weird, out of place, pretty much describes how I felt when I walked into that gym. You have to understand this is not my thing. But, under strict instructions for my back I made my way there.

I felt like people would judge me, however, people are so imvolved in what they are doing, they don't care about me. Great, that works for me.

After feeling uncomfortable and making my way to the X trainer (I hope that's what you call it, I'm such an athlete), and after a couple of minutes I was getting quite into it. I did about six minutes ( I know that's not much)but four months ago I couldn't walk that well after I'd hurt my back, so for me that's quite an achievement.

I did six minutes on the bike and ten minutes on the treadmill. After some ball exercises, I was done. After I got over myself and got on with it, I actually enjoyed it. It gave me structure, somewhere to go, structure in what to do and how to do it.

The question is will I keep it up. I hope so.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

OK...........Here is the story. I feel like I have lost some weight, I look alittle bit better in the mirror but it's not really showing on the scales. The moto here is when you fall off the horse you get right back on it. The weight loss has been alittle slow but I have become very conscious of what I eat and I think that is half the battle.

The good news is I have found a gym not to far away and the challange will be to see if I keep it up. I was asked how many times I would like to attend, 3 to 4 days a week I thought, that was pretty good. The impression I got was that, that perhaps was not enough. I'd be interested to see if I will keep it up and hopefully do more then the 3 to 4 days a week. Also whether my head will take over and start to make excuses so not to go. I hope not.

I did find it interesting going to the gym and feeling very self conscious about how I looked. The fact that I made myself go, hopefully shows an inner strength and williness to get my back better and stronger, with a bonus of losing some more weight.

Documenting this has been weird yet wonderful and I wonder if some of you can relate to my story. I'll let you know how the gym sessions work out. Hopefully there might be a funny story in there, somewhere.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

Well, the weight loss challenge is continuing and I'm not going to give in, hopefully. Since my last post the weight has gone up but I can say that after tonight's weigh in I have lost some more weight.

I am learning that the trick is a combination of healthy eating, portion control and that dreaded word excercise, a combination of all three hopefully will get me there.

I hope in my posts I can inspire some people on this challenge and hope we can all look and feel fabulous by Christmas because I know Christmas will be a challenge within itself. I continue my walks but I can't do to much because of my back. So far, for me to much walking is not good to little is not good either. Balance, balance and more balance.

The weather is heating up here and so out comes the shorts and t-shirts, and daylight savings is helping with walks after dinner.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

The weight loss challenge is continuing and yesterday's excercise went to plan. The rains held off and I was able to go to the shops on foot. I even encouraged myself to go and buy the newspaper for my husband at the local service station. Every little bit of walking can add up and help burn off the calaries.

Todays plan is to go to the shops again, this is about a good 45 minute round trip, which I wouldn't do if I was just walking. The time goes alot quicker if I have a mission and task.

I also have my back excercises which I do when I have a spare minute. I love these because they don't take long and are very specific. 10 excercises of this, 10 excercises of that and woo hoo I'm done.

Didn't get a chance to weight myself last night so I am curious to see if I have lost anymore weight. I did have a slice of my homemade apple pie(which I talked about in an early post) with alittle cream so I will be interested to see how I go. I'll keep you posted. I am making another chef style half apron soon and will post it as soon as I've finished it.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

Hi everyone,
I thought today I would revisit my weight loss progress and let you know how I was going. Well I have lost about Ikg due to running around for the family and today I mowed the grass, always a good work out, but not great for the back. Movie night with the family was great but the food was not. I reassess when I'm eating what I shouldn't, and hey, you have to have something to eat when your watching a movie.

I weigh myself everyday as it gives me a goal and blogging seems to help the process of reminding me to do better with the food and exercise. It also keeps me alittle more motivated, mind you, just alittle more. But everybit helps.

My next goal is to go to the shops and walk there and not take the car. But the rains are coming and maybe that may not happen. We will see how I go. I'll continue to let you know how I'm going with my challenge.

Once a upon a time - weight loss

Once a upon a time there was a person how wanted to lose 10 kgs, 20 pounds The question is can it be done. My New Years resolution is that. Can I lose 10kg. Will I lose 10kgs 20 pounds or will I stay the same weight and lets be honest am I really happy at this weight.

My challenge is how and how long would it take. Now I enjoy my food and really don't want to go without so do I have the will power to lose the weight.

Now I've been told to join a gym.I am not the type to join a gym. Doing lots of repetition of one activity is not my thing. I was more of a team sport type of gal. But because of back problems it has been recommended to me. Now any gym which is driving distance creates a problem. I have to get into the car, drive to the gym, get out of the car, get into the gym, are you losing interest, I know I am.

So if I can find one in walking distance that could help. I think the key here is small steps and set a goal for my self everyday, that way if I reach it I can pat myself on the back and if not I've only had one day of setbacks.

My fisrt step is not to eat to much at dinner. And try at all costs not to have dessert. But if I do. I will try to make it a small piece and not, I said NOT, go for seconds. So I'll start now and see how I go and keep you up to date. It will be an interesting experiment. If anyone is setting the same type of goals let me know.
