Welcome to Runawaywombat
Hi and Welcome. I hope you enjoy my blog and hope we can share my love of cooking and making craft items which I have made for many years. Juggling motherhood and work has been fun and a learning experience. Runawaywombat is an Etsy site where I create classic items which are vibrant, practical and fun. Many items from Aprons, Tea Towels, make up and storage bags. You can see my items by going to www.etsy.com/shop/runawaywombat. On the food front I made Lemon slice and honestly I can't make enough of it as it run off the plate with my family.

Background Stories
Today I thought I would show you my new Background story for a new apron on etsy. This Background Story idea came after writing my Once Upon a Time stories and thought people might like a history to the making of an apron.
Why I picked the material, if there was any connection to my life in picking the material and whether the end result was what I was expecting.
For me it's not about the making of the apron but the connection and how I'm feeling in the process of making it. I will include some more Background stories for my other aprons and hope you enjoy reading them. Here is the Background Story for Chef Style Half Apron Daisy Flowers and some photos.
Background Story
Hi and Welcome. This Material was purchased with my daughter It was her advice that this material belongs in the kitchen and had a fresh, fun look. I have to agree after making the apron it has a real happiness about it. I have also made a kids apron and tea towel which are on separate listings. I hope you enjoy this combination. The straps are made in the two materials for extra contrast.

Once a upon a time
I thought it was time for another, this can only happen to me stories. I hope you get a laugh out of it.
I had a function to attend. So off I go. It was a function that I knew quite a lot of people and started to say hello to family and friends before entering the venue. At the end of the function I start to say my goodbyes and walk towards the car.
I see another couple just in front of me and I'm sure I know this lady. I catch up and start to make my greetings and start to ask politely about her and her family. She politely replies to my questions. The conversation continues for alittle while until she says, " I'm sorry but I don't know who you are." In shock, I explain my connection and how we have seen each other many times. She politely replies she has not a clue who I am. I apologise and continue to my car. Perhaps I don't really know that many people. Love to hear if this has ever happened to you.

Once a upon a time
I was talking to my nieces the other day (the computer savvy people of today) asking them some advice on what I could write on my blog. As a look of horror appeared on their faces, which turned to saddness of disbelief, "Oh, Aunty, anything that comes to mind". The horror turned to me as I thought ANYTHING. What does that mean.
I write about my beloved craft creations and my compulsive need to put to much food on the table, always hoping it will be enough, but what else? Today I was left with my own thoughts and on came the light bulb, yes I've got it. Funny stories. Do you live in an awkward world where things happen and your only thoughts are ,this only happens to me. Well, I thought I might share some of mine with you.
I hope you get a laugh.
Grocery shopping, what could possibly happen here? you ask. Well, After doing my grocery shopping, I made my way to the checkout, when, one of those, "Oh I better remember the baby card" moments came and off I went to pick, Of course, the most beautiful baby card ever for my cousins newborn. I make my decision, after reading the funny birthday cards,( I love them) and make my way to the checkout.
As I put my items on the counter. The cashier picks up the baby card and comments " Oh, what a lovely card for your grandchild. Now, granted, I probably left the coloring of the hair a little long and should have gone two or three weeks before, but heck I was busy preparing these banquet meals.( of course, only an excuse.)At first, I didn't register what she said, and just laugh politely. As I paid for the items the realisation of what she said came to light. WHAT!!! WHAT!!! WHAT!!!( Ok maybe one too many whats.) I was horrified by what she said, Me a grandmother, at my age, how silly. But then when I did my sums, yeah, I guess it could be possible. But still, what a thing to say, at my age. What an outrage, but she could be right. All these thoughts, conclusions and calculations done while walking from the checkout and my car. As I put the groceries in the car a smile comes on my face and I laugh, I guess I am getting older. If you have a funny story let me know or leave a comment if this has ever happened to you.

Spinach crepes Golden and delicious
Hi everyone, I thought you would like to see my spinach crepes. As a child I wouldn't eat spinach, as most kids do, so my mum, bless her heart, would wash and cook the spinach, chop it up, and then put two table spoons of olive oil in a pan, added a hand full of bread crumbs and toasted the crumbs to a golden color and then add the spinach, salt to taste.
The key here is what happens next. The crepes were made and cooked in a non-stick wok with a spray of oil. An amount of the spinach was put into each crepe. Here is the key bit. And why I loved them. They were then fried in a little bit of butter. Yum-o. The butter gave them a beautiful taste and made the crepe alittle crispy. Life was good with mum's cooking. I'll post some more craft photos soon,
